Taylor Velasquez Wires the Field at Hutchinson; Becomes Fourth Different Winner of the 2024 Season

Hutchinson, Kansas 4/26/2024 (www.urssracing.com) - The United Rebel Sprint Series presented by RacinDirt.Com made its 10th appearance in series history to the infamous Kansas State Fairgrounds for the fourth race of the 2024 season. 12 Teams checked into the famous half-mile track Friday evening for Salt City Racing’s opening night.

In the first KansasLand Tire Service heat race, Jeremy Huish caught up with Steven Richardson on lap 3 before Huish would clip the infield tractor tire and spin out. Causing the caution, Huish would be sent to the back of the pack, but he didn't linger around. Huish made a hard charge through the field to finish second. Brian Herbert wired the field in the second heat race, as Taylor Velasquez jumped 2 positions.

With the field set after two KansasLand Tire Service heat races, Taylor Velasquez was positioned on the front row alongside Steven Richardson. The opening laps were mellow as the drivers started laying down laps, but as Velasquez caught the leaders, Justin Chaffin would lose power and bring out the caution. With the field stacked up for a restart, it was an opportunity for other drivers. Jeremy Huish made a crossover attempt through the flag stand giving the bottom to Jeremy Campbell. Campbell cleared Huish into turn 3 and never looked back.

With the laps winding down, Campbell and Richardson simply didn't have enough time to catch Velasquez, making Taylor the fourth different winner in the 2024 season. Now a 16 time winner with the United Rebel Sprint Series presented by RacinDirt.Com, Velasquez ties Steven Richardson and Patrick Bourke for 9th in all-time wins.

The next scheduled race for the United Rebel Sprint Series presented by RacinDirt.Com will be Friday, May 10th at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kansas.
